Taking a nice long vacation by the water can be soothing but art and music festivals can be a great learning experience for everyone. LIMN has picked out two festivals for this issue; The Burning Man and the Restival.

Both these festivals are more than just music, art and design. They teach you about community sharing and globalisation. One falls into the realms of transformation and through yoga and sunsets. It’s a state of mind, the untold stories of people from across the globe and moments too pretty for any camera to capture. It’s all about opening up and reaching out to people around you and communicating like never before.

The Burning Man Festival

A city in the desert. A culture of possibility. A network of dreamers and doers.

The Burning Man Festival is annual gathering where participants from all over the World come together at The Black Desert, Nevada. It’s a temporary city which comes to life only once in a year for a week. They have very strong beliefs about self-reliance and self-expression. There policy of ‘leave no trace’ is much appreciated. It implies that there is no waste left behind after the camp site is demolished.

This year’s theme is ‘Radical Ritual’. It’s about fluidity of religion, not based on kin, hair colour or hometown. People regard this as referring to a breaking of boundaries and a shedding of restrictions.
